What was so frustrating about making this thing

If all our troubles, difficulties, frustrations and pure dislike can be described in one word, incompatibility would take number one spot. Since the beginning of the construction of models and everything we accomplished, almost nothing worked in a different software system that we tried to import it in. Some of the biggest problems that haunted us for weeks are listed bellow.

The Nuisances:

  • Inability to import ship's and monolith's .3ds files into Bryce 5 for animation without losing model pieces and coloring. The solution was to animate both ship and monolith in 3D Studio Max 7 itself with the cost of unprecise and choppy animation.

  • Inability to import astronaut's .pz3 web model into Poser 5 for modifications. The solution was to use Poser 4 with the cost of losing certain facial expressions and other features.

  • Inability to create perfect satellite shape in 3D Studio Max 7. Solution was to give the cone a white color thus making it somewhat similar to the image we were modeling from with the cost of getting unrealistic shape.
