Dr. Steven Corns of Missouri University of Science and technology will be speaking on his topic of “Holistic Modeling of the Biological Systems: A Systems Engineering Approach”.

As large scale engineering projects grow in complexity it is increasingly important to have a set of tools to manage the large number of interfaces between hardware, software, and program management through the lifetime of a product. The increased number of interactions between components of different domains introduces many potential conflicts in overall system performance. Methods are currently being pursued in Defense and Aerospace industries to address these issues, but there is little being done in the biological field. This seminar presents methods to enable a holistic design methodology for use in a variety of disciplines, but in particular it will focus on biological applications.
