Mentor Choice IE Links
IE Link Folder Explanation and Installation Instructions
The IE Links folder is used to contain bookmarks in a quickly accessible location for efficient web browsing. It can be made further accessible by displaying it across the top of the IE browser. As well the browser can be further modified to allow for a larger visible display. The following will explain how to convert your browser into an efficient browsing machine and will give you already created links to get you started.
In the default browser configuration access to the link folder occurs by pressing on the >> beside Links. If you don't see the Links folder anywhere on the top of your browser click on View followed by Toolbars and make sure Links is checked.

A few tweaks and a more efficient display is possible. How to create this display will now be explained.

Installing the Mentor's Choice Links (MCL):
To install the MCL first click on the Favorites button. The left of your browser will now display your Favorites. Right click on the Links folder within your Favorites and then click on properties. You will be able to see the location of the links folder within your system displayed.

The MCL is in a zip file. When unzipping extract the zip file directly into the Favorites, the location of which you just discovered. You will need a unzipping tool. Win zip 8.0 is a good tool. If you do not have an unzipping tool you can search for and download Win zip from tucows
Next download the MCL and extract appropriately.
Adjusting the display of your Browser:
If you click on View and the Toolbars and then Customize you can then adjust on the bottom left of the pop-up box, the Text Options to "no text labels" and the Icon Options to "small icons". As well you delete any icons you never use. You can then pull the various tool bars so that only two levels are taken up. Now your browser is a much more efficient tool.

Adjusting the Links to suit you:
The Links have been set up for first year students. So you would likely want to delete the the first year courses and add you own. As well make any adjustments or changes you deem suitable. Too add more links you can either drag them directly from the URL window into the parent folder displayed across the top. You can then cut and paste the link into a child folder. A better method is to open the favorites section again, that you can more accurately drag links into the appropriate child folder. In this case 3F00 would have been added. To delete simply right click and Delete. If you have any suggestions to add to the IELinks email the mentor with your suggestions.
