COSC 3P98: Final Project

A Glider's Dream

Introduction

This project is an animation; done for COSC 3P98 Introduction to Computer Graphics. It was done as a paired project with the partners being Shahid Mahmood and Jeremy Peacock.

Idea

This animation was created with the idea of a dreaming glider. We liked this idea because we could create some spectacular sceneries. We could then view the different landscapes from the perspective of the person inside the hang glider. Keeping that in mind we created three different terrains. In the first dream we see the glider jumping off of a hill and gliding through a canyon. In the second dream we view a small valley complete with a waterfall and winding river. And on the third dream the glider arrives on a beach with three lovely ladies and his pet dog. At the end another major thing we wanted to do was to show our names within the animation. As our animation was finishing on the beach, we came up with the idea of putting our names in the sand. We figured out how to do this from the book we used "Real World Bryce 4.0" by Kitchens and Gavenda. The idea taken from page 389. Here is a screen shot of creating our names in sand using material lab of Bryce 4.0.

Background Music

The background music is a flute sound and was taken from the web from the collection of Andrew Allen. The music was selected from over 20 different tunes and music of many different artists. The music seems to blend with the animation very smoothly and the light flute sounds in the background keeps with our idea of the animation being a dream.
