Final Animation

Through The Eyes Of A Drunk

Done By: Adam Luther & Chris Watts

Introduction:

Our scene starts off with some guy sitting in a bar enjoying a cold beer while watching other patrons play darts.  He then decides to go and check out the results of the last round of darts a little closer.  Once in front of the dart board, his stomach lets him know that he has made had one too many of those tasty beers.  He then proceeds to run to the washroom, which happens to be the ladies, and enters with the intent of getting sick.  While inside he heads for the bowl and then notices that the one he went too is out of order.  He loops back and heads into the next stall.  There he attempts to replace the toilet water with his lunch.  As a finale the poor man passes out with his head on the bowl.
Modeling:

        The Dart:

The dart was developed using five primitives; two cones, one cylinder and two plane. One of the cones was deformed to be the point of the dart, the other deformed to look like the tail. The cylinder was changed in the middle to look like a grip. Lastly the two planes where set perpendicular to form the fin. Materials and textures were applied to give a chrome and checker look.

         The Room:

The room was designed by putting together planes to represent the walls and the floor. We applied a blue texture to the walls and checker texture to the floor. We added a quarter sphere as lights and adding tables and accessories.
The Bathroom:

The bathroom was also designed by putting together planes to represent the walls and the floor. The walls and a tile texture whereas the floor has a marble texture. We modeled some stalls and toilets to complete the bathroom.
The Table:

The table was put together with two cylinders. The middle support leg has a wood texture applied to it and the top has a transformed marble textured look.
The Jukebox:

The jukebox is really a saved 2d picture pasted to a plane. The image was projected onto a plane along with a CV curve. The curve out lined the area to be cut out. Once positioned correctly the image was cut from the plane leaving just the image.
The Beer Bottle:

The beer bottle was created with a CV curve. Once the correct curve was made, we revolved it and then applied a 2d texture to it. The 2d texture is a gif file from a Sleeman beer bottle.

Animation:

Most of our animation involves the use of camera movement because we are trying to portray the view of an individual. The camera is animated throughout the scene to mimic an individual moving around the bar. To begin with, we moved the focus point of the camera to make it appear that the drunk man was twisting his head to get a better look at the room.  Then we animated the camera to make it appear that the man was getting up and moving in the direction of the dart board.  After he examines the dart board he proceed to run to the bathroom with some swaying of his head which is just a rotation on the camera.  Another animation in the scene is the darts. This is done by simply moving the darts from some arbitrary point in the back of the bar to the dart board.  Once in the dart board the animation of these is complete. The final bit of animation is down for the vomit.  This is just about 25 spheres that were moved from behind the camera, into view, and then below the toilet.
Sounds:

These are the sounds that were used in the making of our animation

 Initial Puke
 Dry Heaves
Conclusion:

We had many problems during the whole animation process. Initially we had particles coming out during the puking scene but we were unable to compose both scenes together properly. The camera was tricky to get a hold of and figuring out the correct views took some time.
